What is Turnitin Online Grading? How do I set-up the Turnitin Online Grading digital annotation tool in D2L Brightspace Assignments?

Overview

The Turnitin Online Grading tool allows you to digitally annotate a submitted document with strike through, typed text, individualized and pre-created comments, and more.

The Turnitin Online Grading tool automatically shares the annotated document with the student in a “View Turnitin Online Grading” link to a student in the corresponding Assignments folder and the associated Grade item, for example:

Set-up Turnitin Online Grading

To set-up the Online grading tool in an Assignments submission folder:

  1. Navigate to your D2L Brightspace course and click on the Assessments tab. Click on Assignments.
  2. Find the Assignments submission folder you want to set up Turnitin on. Click the arrow next to the title. Click Edit Assignment.
  3. Click the arrow next to the Evaluation and Feedback menu.
  4. Click the Manage Turnitin.

  1. In the pop-up window, check the box next to Enable Online Grading for this folder.
  2. Select whether you would like to sync grades automatically or manually to D2L Brightspace.

  1.  Click Save.
  2. Finally, in the Edit Assignments page, click the Save and Close button.

Navigate to the Submissions page of Assignments, then click the pencil icon in the Turnitin Online Grading column to open the digital annotation tool.
