Maverick Social Justice Summer Camp

The Maverick Social Justice Summer Camp aims to promote awareness of social justice issues and help cultivate secondary education (9th - 12th-grade*) student leaders, especially in multicultural communities. The camp exposes participants to various topics relevant to social justice, especially pertaining to multicultural groups. Topics of special focus for the camp include racism, sexism, and classism. Camp participants will also be encouraged to pursue higher education to better serve their communities. *Participants must be starting 9th - 12th grade during the 2023-2024 academic year!

When is the camp scheduled?

The 2023 residential summer camp is scheduled from Monday, June 19, through Thursday, June 22, 2023.

How much does it cost to participate in the camp?

The camp is FREE to all students scheduled to begin 19th - 23th grade during the 2023-2024 academic year!

How will the camp be conducted amidst the COVID-19 pandemic?

Great question! The well-being of our camp participants is important to our staff. Thus, we will adhere to University COVID-19 safety measures guidance to minimize risks to our campers, their families, our staff, and volunteers. 

How do I sign up for the camp?

Individuals are asked to complete the online application form to express interest in the camp by Thursday, June 1, 2023. Parties will be contacted via email starting June 7, 2023, to confirm their admission status and complete camp paperwork.
