Teaching: Dr. Chiou’s teaching goals are to strengthen our students’ knowledge on evidence-based practice in neurogenic communication disorders and directly apply the knowledge into clinical service delivery with high professional expectations.

Areas of Interest: Dr. Chiou's Brain Injury Research Lab is focused on effective language and cognitive intervention for individuals with brain injury (stroke, traumatic brain injury, neurodegenerative disorders) and meaningful engagements for people with dementia and their care partners. Dr. Chiou is co-president of Asian Pacific Islander Speech-Language-Hearing Caucus, founded Global Experiences Program, and co-founded Garden EngAGEment, a dementia-friendly program via interprofessional collaboration. Dr. Chiou leads Minnesota Connect Aphasia Now Aphasia Conversational Group on MSU-Mankato Edina Campus.
